FORT JACKSON, S.C.— Fort Jackson’s friends and neighbors are invited to share, once again, in the evening’s festivities. “You asked for it and we have answered,” said Fort Jackson Commander Brig. Gen. Patrick R. Michaelis “For the first time in years, we invite everybody to celebrate Independence Day with us.”
The Master of Ceremony kicks off two free concerts beginning at 6:00 p.m. Headlining the evening is American singer, songwriter and producer, Breland, brought to Fort Jackson by the United Service Organizations (USO). The “My Truck” singer’s hybrid of rap, R&B, gospel and soul music is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Opening for Breland is Brooks Herring, sponsored by USO SC. Herring, a Navy veteran, is a guitar-playing, music-writing singer who performs a multitude of multigenerational genres.
We are asking those who are coming for the event to use Gate 4, Boyden Arbor Road, to access Hilton Field. The field will be open at 4 p.m. so people can set up their own lawn chairs, towels and blankets. At that time, food trucks and vendors, who will have food and beverage for sale, and the kid zone, with amusement rides, will open for business. People may bring a small cooler, filled with a few items but not enough to compete with the business sales.
Fort Jackson hopes to honor our Nation and also provide a great event for on post personnel as well as our partners and community members.
Fort Jackson is a government military post, and random vehicle searches will be conducted at the gates. All visitors must also adhere to the following guidelines: failure to comply could result in a denial of access on the base.
For the safety of all guests, the following items are prohibited:
The event provides an opportunity for soldiers, civilians and families, military partners, and the community to come together and celebrate our nation’s independence.
