Ben focuses his practice in the areas of appellate advocacy, professional negligence, and commercial litigation. As a former appellate law clerk, Ben offers a valuable perspective on briefing and arguing issues before an appellate court. He has experience representing attorneys and law firms in legal malpractice actions in both state and federal courts. Ben’s business litigation practice covers a wide variety of business disputes, including banking litigation, legal actions between members of an LLC, commercial landlord/tenant disputes and securities litigation. Ben’s undergraduate studies in business and finance provide him with necessary background to understand the functions, operations, and complexities of the businesses he represents.

Betsy is an accomplished litigator, concentrating her practice on commercial litigation, probate and estate litigation, professional liability and ethics, and securities and FINRA. The second woman president of the South Carolina Bar, Betsy was awarded the 2016 Fellows Award presented by the National Conference of Bar Presidents (NCBP), an award recognizing the accomplishments of a past president of a bar association who has demonstrated a continuing commitment to leadership, service, the work of the organized bar and the purposes of the NCBP. 

 

Nick is a litigator focusing his practice in workers’ compensation defense.He has experience representing businesses, insurance companies and self-insured employers before the Workers’ Compensation Commission, the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Nick serves on the planning committee for the Annual Medical Conference of the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association, and places an emphasis on community service, currently serving on the Board for Kids’ Chance of South Carolina and Friends of Epworth Children’s Home.

Becky has a diverse litigation practice with focus on disputes involving alternative dispute resolution; construction; dram shop; healthcare; insurance coverage; premises liability; product liability; and commercial transportation and trucking. She is a Fellow in Litigation Counsel of America; and a member of International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC); American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and Trial Attorneys of America (TAA).

Michael focuses his litigation practice in areas involving premises liability, automobile and trucking torts, insurance coverage, and products liability. He also has experience in handling construction matters, defending medical malpractice claims, and litigation involving administrative agencies. 

Michael enjoys mentoring first-year law students at the University of South Carolina School of Law and also oversees the firm’s law clerk program. He is a member of the executive committee for the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court, as well as the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association.

Beth serves her clients with a unique blend of creativity, tenacity, and rigorous thinking. Her practice focuses on business and employment contract disputes, False Claims Act litigation, and professional malpractice matters both in courtroom and arbitration settings, including FINRA. Drawing on her experience as an appellate clerk, Beth enjoys an active appellate practice in both state and federal court, and has handled appeals on a variety of issues, including novel issues of law, on cases originating inside and outside the firm. 

 

Bobby Stepp is an experienced litigator focusing on complex cases in varied commercial settings at the trial and appellate level. His practice includes professional liability defense, corporate governance disputes, contract matters, product liability defense, voting rights, and constitutional issues. Bobby is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He received the Trial and Appellate Advocacy Award from the South Carolina Bar in 2014.

Monty practices in the areas of healthcare malpractice, commercial litigation, products and premises liability, and professional liability. He has tried over 75 cases to verdict in both state and federal courts, is a certified Circuit Court Mediator, and has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. Monty is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.

Rob is a member of the firm and practices in the areas of business litigation, administrative and regulatory law, and election law. Rob has represented clients before the South Carolina Supreme Court and other levels of state and federal courts, and has appeared before many local and state government entities.  Rob has litigated complex constitutional issues, election law issues, and numerous business disputes. Rob has substantial experience representing clients on ethics matters before the South Carolina Ethics Commission and the House and Senate Ethics Committees. 
 

Cal Watson is a litigator with experience in complex business and insurance disputes, class actions, and professional liability and ethics. During his 28 years of practice, Cal has represented numerous individuals, local and national businesses, partnerships, insurance companies, and financial institutions. Named by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly as 2015 Lawyer of the Year, Cal has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and Chambers USA. Active in the South Carolina Bar, Cal has served as President of the South Carolina Bar, President of the South Carolina Bar Foundation, and President of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court. Cal is the managing member of the firm.
