Garvin Design Group, Contract Construction Complete Coastal Carolina University’s Indoor Practice Facility

Garvin Design Group, HNTB, and Contract Construction are proud to announce the completion of Coastal Carolina University’s new Indoor Practice Facility in Conway, South Carolina. This state-of-the-art, 93,000-square-foot facility marks a significant enhancement to the university’s athletic and community event capabilities.

Located just south of Brooks Stadium, the Indoor Practice Facility includes a full-size synthetic football field, coaches’ observation tower, training room, video recording platforms, and athletic training space. Clerestory windows, garage bay doors, and double-height glazing allow abundant natural light to fill the interior, creating a dynamic environment for athletic training and university events.

Designed in close collaboration with national sports architecture firm HNTB, Garvin Design Group served as Architect of Record and design leader, while Contract Construction managed construction services for the project.

“We’re thrilled to see Coastal’s vision for this facility become a reality,” said Terry Buchmann, Principal at Garvin Design Group. “Working alongside HNTB, Contract Construction, and Coastal’s administration and coaches, we’ve delivered a flexible, high-performance facility that supports CCU’s growing athletics programs and enriches the campus community.”

Greg Hughes, President of Contract Construction, added, “Completing this project is a huge milestone for Coastal Carolina University. We are honored to have helped bring this vision to life and proud to deliver a facility that will serve athletes, coaches, and students for years to come.”

The project was made possible through generous philanthropic support, including major contributions from Conway Medical Center with Novant Health and Joe Moglia, CCU’s Chair of Athletics and Executive Director for Football. In addition to supporting athletic programming, the new Indoor Practice Facility is expected to host a wide range of campus events, including club sports, intramurals, commencement activities, and community gatherings.
